February: Patrol Event

February is Patrol Outing Month. Each patrol decides on a campout or day activity to do together. The planning is entirely up to the patrols for this one. Be creative and have fun!


March 17-18: Red Jacket Fellowship

We come back in March to our fellowship campout. The amazing facilities at the Red Jacket Lodge should be perfect for churning out the delicious dishes that always make up our fellowship dinner.


April 28-30: Cleveland

May 19-21: Camp Coffman

2013-2014

September 27-29: Civil War Camporee

The Civil War Camporee will be a great time to meet other troops while learning about the Civil War through reenactments and other activities.


October 18-20: Alleghany

New York State peak foliage will be visible in October when we attend Alleghany state park for the old growth forest and thunder rocks.


November 22-24: Schoellkopf

Staying at Meyer Village at Camp Schoellkopf will give us a chance to work on our Scout skills.


December 14 (Day Trip): Strong Museum

We will end the year with a day trip to the National Museum of Play, a great place for people of all ages to have fun.


Jan 10-12: Scouthaven

We will spend the hopefully snowy month of January snowshoeing and sledding at local Camp Scouthaven.


February: Patrol Event

February, as always, is patrol month. It gives each of the patrols to grow as a group by planning an activity and overnight of their own.


March 21-23: Red Jacket

We come back in March to our fellowship campout. The amazing facilities at the Red Jacket Lodge should be perfect for churning out the delicious dishes that always make up our fellowship dinner.


April 25-27: Laurel Caverns/Falling Waters

we will venture down to Pennsylvania. Older Scouts (12+) will spend Saturday doing an intense spelunking tour through Laurel Caverns. Younger Scouts will spend the morning visiting Pittsburg and then tour the cave in the afternoon. On Sunday, the entire troop will visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater.


May 22-26: Canoeing in ADKs

May we will be going on a three-day canoe trip. We are still working out the details of the trip but mark your calendars because this is a trip that you won’t want to miss.


June 7 (Day Trip): Presque Isle

We will end the year by spending the day biking, hiking, and exploring Presque Isle State Park.

2012-2013

September 21-23: Thousand Islands, NY

We will start our Scouting year off with an exciting trip to the Thousand Islands, voted one of the most beautiful places in all of New York state. We will take a boat tour around some of the islands and stop to visit Boldt Castle, a magnificent 108-year-old mansion on Heart Island. We will also walk through Mazeland, the largest hedge maze in New York State. What an amazing way to start out our year!


October 12-14: High Peaks Region, Adirondack State Park, NY

The troop will travel to the Adirondacks for an amazing day of high adventure. We will be hiking up Cascade Mountain, one of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks. At an elevation of 4,098 feet, the bald mountain peak will provide the troop with an excellent view of the breathtaking Adirondack peak fall foliage. Venture-aged Scouts will also be climbing ¬Porter Mountain, another High Peak, for an extra challenge.


November 2-4: Ithaca, NY

On this exciting trip, we will stay in cabins and spend the day hiking through the beauty that Ithaca has to offer. First, we will take a hike at Buttermilk Falls, a beautiful foaming cascade along Buttermilk Creek. Next, we will hike through Treeman State Park, a beautiful park encompassing Enfield Glen Gorge and twelve waterfalls. Bring your cameras, because the scenery on this trip will be gorgeous.


December 15: Niagara Climbing Center

This year’s December Day trip promises to be a great one. It will be a day full of climbing at the Niagara Climbing Center, a building full of rock walls for all climbing levels. We will also be working on the Climbing merit badge.


January 25-27: Skiing at Kissing Bridge

What better way to enjoy WNY winters than to ski in our great snow! We will spend Saturday skiing at Kissing Bridge, one of the area’s best skiing hills filled with trails for all experience levels. If you are new to skiing, there will be lesson opportunities available for you to learn. We will be camping at Beaver Meadows Nature Center and doing an evening activity there yet TBD.


February: Patrol Outing

February is Patrol Outing Month. Each patrol decides on a campout or day activity to do together. The planning is entirely up to the patrols for this one. Be creative and have fun!


March 22-24: Camp Manitou, Canada (16 and older will need passport or enhanced driver ID)

This year for fellowship, we will have a change of scenery when we go across the border into Canada. We will be staying at the Rotary Lodge at Camp Manitou, an amazing cabin with one of the best kitchens, perfect for our 2013 Fellowship Dinner. During the day, we will be exploring the Ontario Science Center.


April 19-21: Caving in Pennsylvania

What an unforgettable trip this will be! First, we will explore Penn’s Cave, a massive cave that is only accessible by boat. Next, we will travel to Lincoln Caverns, where we will be spending the night in the visitor’s center. At night, we will venture into the caves on a flashlights-only tour. We definitely have a batty trip planned this month.


May 17-19: Hiking in Northern Pennsylvania

Now that we have seen Pennsylvania underground, we will have another weekend above ground to experience its beautiful forests. We will be hiking and camping in a location, which has yet TBD.


June 7-9: Erie Canal Bike Trip

Our last outing will be an unforgettable bike trip along the Erie Canal. Further information of the location of our scenic ride will be coming soon. We will hold five training rides.


July 21-27: Schoelkopf Summer Camp

Our Scouts will be attending the regular summer camp where they will take interesting merit badges and do fun activities!


August 16-26: Bike Trip and DC Visit

More information will be available soon.

2011-2012

September 23-25: Black Forest, Pennsylvania

We kick off our year with a great camping and hiking trip to the Cook Forest State Park in northwestern Pennsylvania. Once called the Black Forest, the area is famous for its stands of old growth forest. Cook Forest’s “Forest Cathedral” of towering white pines and hemlocks is a National Natural Landmark. If the weather permits, we plan to do some great stargazing.


October 14-16: Allegheny State Park, New York

We will be camping (site to be determined) and hiking in the Allegheny State Park. If we are lucky, we will hit the peak fall foliage.


November 18-20: Mount Nemo, Canada

On this exciting trip, we will stay in shelters or cabins, do great hiking, and visit a nearby American Indian village. Mt. Nemo, near Burlington, Ontario has one of the best cliff ecosystems on Ontario’s Niagara Escarpment. Crevice caves and ancient cedars, a thousand years old, can be seen along the meandering cliff edge trail. Everyone 16 and older will need passport or enhanced driver’s license.


December 17: The “Wright Stuff” Day

We will be visiting two world famous Frank Lloyd Wright houses in our own backyard: the Darwin Martin House (a National Historic Landmark) and Graycliff (a New York State Historical Landmark). This promises to be a unique, fun, and educational event.


January 20-22: Skiing at Peak and Peak

There is no better way to enjoy Western New York winters than to ski in our great snow! We will stay warm in cabins and ski at Peak and Peak. Are you new to skiing? This is your chance to learn. There are many trails for beginners and intermediates. Don’t worry if you don’t own skis; they can be rented.


February 10-12: Patrol Outing

February is patrol outing month. Each patrol decides on a campout or day activity to do together. The planning is entirely up to the patrols for this one. Be creative and have fun!


March 23-25: Don Miller Park (Fellowship Dinner)

You can’t find a camp any closer to home than this one! It is located in North Tonawanda near Robinson Road. Each patrol will contribute to the Fellowship Dinner that we’ll share.


April 21: Rafting in Zoar Valley

This will be a most exciting and adventurous 1-day trip. White water rafting on the mighty Cattaraugus, through Zoar Valley, is the perfect springtime activity. You'll view rugged cliffs hundreds of feet high, waterfalls and, if lucky, nesting bald eagles. The Zoar Valley Canoe & Rafting Company will arrange for all the rafts, safety equipment, and wet suits etc.


May 20: Mumford, New York

Our last outing will be a day trip to one of the largest living history museums in the country located just outside of Rochester in Mumford, NY. Step back into a living, working nineteenth century country village. You’ll hear the clanging of the blacksmith’s hammer, smell the aroma of fresh baked pies and bread, roll the hoop with the stick, and otherwise truly experience life in a nineteenth century American country village.


June 8-10: Pine Creek, Pennsylvania

This promises to be the bike trip of a lifetime! The Pine Creek Rail Trail was voted by USA Today as one of the "10 great places to take a bike tour." This over 57-mile-long trail slopes gently downhill over its entire length and travels through the Pine Creek Gorge (aka the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania) starting in Ansonia and ending in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. We plan to camp at the beginning and along the way with sites yet to be determined.
